Dr. Fleischmann came to GVSU in 1989 after teaching at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.  Her specialty areas are fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.  As a faculty advisor for the ASME Student Section she has also worked to increase opportunities for students to be professionally involved in service work.  Dr. Fleischmann has been nationally recognized for teaching excellence through a number of teaching awards including the Carnegie Foundation Michigan Professor of the Year
in 1998.
