Dr. Anyalebechi came to GVSU in August 2001 after almost 12 years in industry and more than three years of university teaching. From 1985 to 1996 and 1999 to 2001, he worked at Alcoa Technical Center, the industrial research laboratory of Alcoa Inc., where he conducted applied research on manufacturing processes and alloys used in the production of a variety of aluminum products including foils, beverage cans, automotive, and aircraft parts. From August 1996 to December 2000, he served as an Associate Professor in the Integrated Science and Technology Department of James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA.
Dr. Anyalebechi holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgy from Brunel University, England.
He is a chartered engineer (C.Eng.) of the British Engineering Council and a professional member (MIM) of the Institute of Materials, London. He is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), American Foundryman Society (AFS), American Society for Metals (ASM) International, and The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS). He currently serves on the national TMS Materials Processing Fundamentals Committee. Areas of research interest include hydrogen in metals, materials and process selection, product failure analysis, control and characterization of microstructure evolution during solidification of castings and welds, and in thermo mechanical processing and heat treatment of metal products.
