Dr. Johnson received his BA in Physics and Mathematics from Houghton College (NY) and his MS and PhD in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of Notre Dame. He previously was a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Montana State University and a staff engineer for Allied Signal Corporation (currently Honeywell). He has taught primarily in Electrical and Computer Engineering since coming to GVSU in 1986. His current interests include improving student retention through innovative freshman engineering programs and technological literacy education for non-engineering students.
