Description

On Thursday, March 26 Student Advocates of International Literacy (SAIL), a new student organization started by English major Katie Conigliaro, will be hosting an event entitled "Around the World in 80 Books" at the Mary Pew Library's Multipurpose Room. The goal is to both educate the campus community on literacy issues around the world and to introduce students to literature from a variety of global regions. At the event, there will be tables featuring information  on literacy from countries in different parts of the world as well as information on prominent authors, common themes, and a recommended book list of books from each region. In addition, English Professor David Alvarez will kick off the proceedings with a talk entitled "World Lit versus World Lite: Literacy, Critical Reading, and World Literature."
