To become a participant in The Educational Support Program, a student must be accepted at GVSU and potentially be the first generation in their family to graduate from a four year college (neither natural parent has a four year degree). Due to our federal grant we are limited in the number of active participants we can serve.
There is no charge for any service that ESP provides. Participants are required to meet with their ESP advisor a minimum of two times in the Fall and two times in the Winter as well as keep in contact with their peer mentor.
In The Educational Support Program, we assist participants with:
-
Obtaining the best grades they can
-
Participating in the correct classes
-
Deciding on a major
-
Building a portfolio and résumé for schools and employers
-
Searching for internships and off-campus opportunities
-
Getting to know other participants by attending cultural events and workshops
-
Supplying specific academic equipment for students success
