TRiO: Student Support Services            What is TRiO?
     The Educational Support Program is a federally funded Student Support Services grant program that assists students who are potentially the first in their family to receive a 4-year college degree.  Many of those served are also qualified by meeting the income guidelines set by the federal government.  TRiO is the acronym for such programs at the national level.

    TRiO is a real education opportunity for disadvantaged Americans. Student financial aid programs help students overcome financial barriers to higher education; TRiO Programs help students overcome class, social, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education.

    Students in the TRiO Student Support Services programs, like the Educational Support Program, are more than twice as likely to remain in college than those students from similar backgrounds who did not participate in the program.
