The Political Science Department invites you to hear from attorney Adam Sturdivent. After graduating from GVSU, Adam began practicing law in Ohio but returned to Grand Rapids in 2008. Come hear about his near 20 year career arc and how he navigates the ever changing landscape of Constitutional Law. Adam has successfully litigated highly complex civil rights,

employment discrimination, mass tort sexual abuse, and catastrophic injury cases.

Adam C. Sturdivant is a partner with Drew Cooper & Anding, a boutique litigation firm. Adam earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2005 and began his legal career in Columbus, Ohio representing corporations in real estate, construction, and insurance matters. Adam returned to Grand Rapids, Michigan to join Drew Cooper & Anding in 2008 and was named the firm’s youngest partner in 2011. Over the last 15 years he has specialized in litigating complex civil matters in federal and state courts in the areas of civil rights, sexual harassment and abuse, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and employment law. Adam has litigated mass tort and multi-plaintiff cases that have increased national awareness of institutional and culturally normalized sexual abuse. He represented hundreds of clients in some of the nation’s largest sex abuse cases, including the Nassar-related cases against Michigan State University, USA Gymnastics, and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and the Anderson-related cases against the University of Michigan. He is a member of the American, Federal, Grand Rapids, Floyd Skinner, and Ohio State Bar Associations, as well as the Michigan Association for Justice.
