Enjoy a stunning new choreographic multi-media interpretation of Vivaldi’s iconic and beloved work as set by GVSU faculty artist choreographer, Shawn T Bible, and performed by the nationally acclaimed violin soloist Rachel Barton Pine and Thodos Dance Chicago, in collaboration with members of the GVSU Dance Program. 

Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, a four concerto set from the composer’s 1725 opus 8 set of 12 works entitled The Contest Between Harmony and Invention, is among the boldest program music ever written, musically portraying each season through brilliant and virtuosic writing with all of the vividness and power seen in the great Italian paintings of the same period. 

You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to hear the exuberant brilliance of Vivaldi’s music coupled with the sights, sounds, movements, and cultural textures brilliantly choreographed as a gorgeous physical and visual counterpart to Vivaldi’s evocative musical journey. 

Few great cities of early 18th Century Europe could match the musical reputation of Venice, and certainly few composers have ever matched the fame and allure of the great Venetian violinist, Antonio Vivaldi. The composer of more than 500 instrumental concerti, numerous works for the Church, and at least 50 documented operas, Vivaldi has emerged as one of the most beloved composers of the modern world as well.
