Since forming in 2010, The Donald Sinta Quartet (DSQ) has achieved great renown internationally for their recitals, concerto performances, and championing of cutting edge new repertoire. Named for legendary University of Michigan Saxophone Professor Donald Sinta, all members of the gorup studied with Sinta during various degree programs and their name is in recognition of their admiration and appreciation for the great mentor.
In 2012 the DSQ won first place in the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition. Last year the group performed at the Paris Conservatory and Versailles Conservatory and were named the Alice Coleman Grand Prize Winners at the 2013 Coleman Chamber Music Competition.
Members include Dan Graser (visiting professor of saxophone at GVSU), Zach Stern, Joe Girard, and Danny Hawthorne-Foss.
