OBOHIO, The Double Reed Consort was founded in 1990 by Robert Sorton, professor of oboe at the Ohio State University. The basic quartet of oboe, oboe d'amore, English horn, and bassoon performs a wide variety of repertoire from the Renaissance to modern times, from solo pieces to works incorporating additional musicians. The ensemble has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe. Members in addition to Robert Sorton are P. Bailey Sorton, faculty member at Kenyon College and Mount Vernon Nazarene University; Karrie Pierson, asociate professor of basson at Ohio State University; and Stephanie Kunz, doctoral student in oboe performance at the Ohio State University.
