The purpose of this brown bag lunch is to discuss the impact Black fraternities and sororities have on the Black community and Black college students. The session will include a brief talk by Dr. Donald Mitchell, Jr., Assistant Professor of Higher Education at GVSU, followed by a panel discussion (pending) and open Q&A session. Dr. Mitchell's scholarship encompasses Black fraternities and sororities. He was awarded the Center for the Study of the College Fraternity's 2012 Richard McKaig Outstanding Doctoral Research Award for his dissertation, "Are They Truly Divine?: A Grounded Theory of the Influences of Black Greek-Lettered Organizations on the Persistence of African Americans at Predominantly \r\n
