Have you ever done something that took ovaries? That was brave? Bold? Brazen? Outrageous? Gutsy? Courageous?
Then the GVSU Women’s Center wants YOU to submit stories for the second annual production of That Takes Ovaries! Tell a true story about someone, no matter how they identify, who has done something that took ovaries!
Submissions from anyone and everyone, anonymous or not, are welcome!
Suggested Submission Length: 750 words or less
Deadline: Thursday, November 20th at 5 pm to ThatTakesOvariesGVSU@gmail.com with “Play Submission” in the subject line
Bold, Brazen, Acts of Courage
We are on the hunt for true, short stories about the small, everyday acts men and women do That Takes Ovaries! This is not the time to be humble. PLEASE brag about yourself and/or the men and women in your life who have done bold acts!
Some story examples to consider:
Anti-Bullying
Leaving an abusive relationship
Standing up to a bully on the bus or playground
Calling someone out on racist, homophobic comments
Not shaving your legs in middle school when everyone else is
Single Parents / College Parents
Positive stories about teenage pregnancy
A women overcoming abandonment after becoming pregnant
Dealing with Health Issues
A story about a woman who had cancer and survived
A story of a woman who fought courageously for her health or rights
Everyday Acts
Time you called someone out in class for a negative comment
Time you saw something happen in public setting and intervened
Stories that Portray Men in a Positive Light
Men who are partners in gender justice
Men who have previously participated in That Takes Ovaries! Or other women’s right’s activism/organizations
Men who have stood up against racism, bullying, etc.
Bold acts of men standing up and supporting women’s and gender justice issues
