The West Michigan College and University Presidents' Compact Committee (WMPCC) is hosting a conference featuring Dr. Damon Williams. GVSU is one of the 12 institutional partners of WMPCC. As such, representatives from the Office of Multicultural Affairs have served on this Committee since its inception in 2001. Later, the Inclusion and Equity Division also joined the Committee in 2010. The goal of WMPCC is to ensure that our institutions of higher education actively contribute to the efforts in West Michigan to affirm, respect and embrace people of all ethnic and racial backgrounds.
Dr. Williams is one of the leading experts on diversity in higher education. He is the author of the book Strategic Diversity Leadership and co-author of the book The Chief Diversity Officer. Formerly the Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently leading Program, Training & Youth Development Services for the Boys and Girls Club of America. Also, Adriel Hilton from Inclusion and Equity and Donald Mitchell from College of Education will be serving on the conference panel. The conference will take place on October 11, 9:00 – 3:00 pm, at Kendall College of Art and Design
