SESSION 2 CONFIRMING, RESTORING OR ESTABLISHING DIRECTION THAT MOTIVATES. SESSION 3: EXPLORING IMPACT ISSUES. This session, led by educational gerontologist, Mike Faber, will help you explore a wide range of potential barriers that you will need to overcome in order for you to stay "on track." These include aging-related health/wellness, caregiving, loneliness/relationships, discrimination, lack of purpose, spirituality, loss of self-esteem, fear, crime/safety, purposeful activities, civic engagement/giving back, societal expectations/trends, change, work (both paid and unpaid), and more.

SESSION 4: FINANCIAL PREPAREDNESS. This session, led by Jeffrey Noeker, Area Investment Manager for Fifth Third Securities, licensed since 1993, will give you a broad overview of financial issues that you may encounter before and during your retirement. These include borrowing basics, investing basics, pensions, social security, 401Ks, traditional IRAs, insurance, financial planning and more.

Join us on the last Friday of each month as we sepend the day at Southern Michigan’s premier outdoor rock climbing destination.  Enjoy a variety of top rope climbs averaging 30-40 ft tall.   Participants will meet at Oak Park in Grand Ledge around 10am and climb until tired or 4pm, whichever comes first.


Some climbing experience recommended.

"Through this workshop, my integrative statement became not only a strong supporting document in my portfolio, but also a powerful reflection on my career as a teacher and scholar." 



These two workshops are for faculty who are preparing for pre-tenure and tenure reviews, or for promotion. Working closely with faculty mentors, participants will compose their Integrative/Reflective Statement and prepare other supporting materials for the portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies. Workshop mentors recommend that participants do not teach at the same time that they participate in this workshop. Participants usually devote at least 12-15 hours during the week to work on their portfolios.

Aside from being extremely fun, rock climbing promotes more than just upper body strength.  Rock climbing helps enhance mental focus, creative problem solving skills, balance, coordination, and flexibility.


Saturdays, June 8 - July 13 (6 weeks)
