Description of the Organization

The 3CD coordinated campaign works with candidates for State House, State Senate, and County Commission in Kent, Ionia, Barry, Montcalm and Calhoun County. All together they work with and help run 40 different campaigns.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

Assisting the Campaign Manager with absentee voter contact, yard sign organization, volunteer organization, data entry and community outreach. I also worked on email and social media organization, research and writing tasks, design work, and media tracking. Operations management, scheduling, data entry, mailings, research, and various project management jobs.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I learned to perform well in a team setting while working alongside many other team members with a common goal in mind. I also learned to excel in situations that require multi-tasking as well as in multi-cultural settings.

Favorite Part of the Experience

As interns we were able to gain valuable hands-on experience and made great connections as we worked closely with top Democratic staffers at the campaign, Senate Democratic Caucus, city leaders, county leaders and the House Democratic Caucus.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

This internship was my first political-related opportunity. It allowed me to see firsthand what organizing campaigns looks like, and has helped me realize the importance of working in a team setting. I am looking forward to pursuing a career in politics.
