GoodTemps helps marginalized populations with barriers to employment. The staff at GoodTemps believe that everyone deserves a second chance and provides the necessary training to help you succeed. GoodTemps provides job retention training, financial literacy counseling, job coaching, and social service assistance to temporary workers.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As an intern I played a supportive role to the case manager. My duties included support in job coaching to help employees successfully handle on-the-job conflicts and other barriers to employment. I assisted in teaching job retention classes that highlighted the importance of, first impressions, attendance, performance, communication, and career advancement.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
The skills that I gained from this experience were working with a diverse group of individuals who normally I would not have much contact with. I gained experience in teaching retention classes and job coaching.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op experience would be seeing the advancement of individuals that I had helped from teaching them job coaching and the necessary aspects of career advancement.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience influenced my future career goals in that it opened my eyes to the field of social work and all the work that goes into it. This experience helped me to decided that I wanted to further my career in social work to help individuals with many barriers.
