Named in honor of Richard M. Gillett, one of the founding fathers of Grand Valley State University, the Gillett Society was dedicated in 2001 to recognize those of the greater Grand Valley community – alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and parents – who have included Grand Valley in their will or estate plan. These gifts may be directed to endowment funds, scholarships, or to areas of special significance to the donor.
Acknowledgement of membership in the Gillett Society is two-fold, with active and memorial recognition. Active recognition in the Gillett Society includes those who notify the University Development office of their gift arrangements during their lifetime. Memorial recognition in the Gillett Society will be ascribed to those whose gifts have matured and are now being applied to their intended purposes here at Grand Valley.
All members, both active and memorial, are recognized in the Grand Valley University Foundation's Annual Report on Giving. Additionally, active members receive a certificate of membership as well as invitations to Grand Valley events.
If you have already made a planned gift to Grand Valley or would like more information, please contact the University Development office at (616) 331-6000 for information on how to create a planned gift to Grand Valley that meets your philanthropic planning goals.
