Dan '79 and Mollie '80 Hartlieb

Alumni Dan and Mollie Hartlieb believe that the best way to share their Grand Valley experience is by giving back as University Society members.

"By funding scholarships and programs, we are helping the next generation of students attain a great education and experience," Mollie said. "Most importantly, we are helping them become a part of the Grand Valley family - our Grand Valley family."

The couple feels that this connection to the university community has shaped their entire lives.

"Some of our closest friends are the ones we met in freshman orientation," Dan said. "The wonderful, welcoming feel at Grand Valley really helped foster these strong relationships."

These lifelong bonds and the couple's commitment to leadership are some of the main reasons they chose to give back.

"Leadership to us means that as proud alums, it is our job to support GVSU into the future - and our annual gifts do just that," Mollie said. "We believe in the university and want to help continue its mission of providing students with opportunities for success."
