Panhellenic Executive Board
President: Mackenzie Mainland
Bio: I was born and raised in Petoskey, Michigan. While attending high school I decided that one year was going to be spent living in another country, so junior year I lived in Lima, Peru. I lived here and attended school before returning home to complete my senior year. My senior year I applied at Grand Valley and was going to become a nurse. Two years into GV I decided that nursing was not for me and I decided to double major in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Spanish. I am very excited to see where my new majors take me and I cannot wait to get out into the real world. Wanna know some interesting facts about me? Hablo español, my great-great uncle is Ernest Hemingway, and I am very dedicated to friends, family, my sorority, and most of all my school work. Before this I have served as my sorority’s Vice President of Alumnae and Heritage. I am looking forward to having a great year and cannot wait to see what we all can do as a Panhellenic Community.
Executive Vice President: Elaina Gardner
Bio: Elaina is from Southfield, MI. She graduated from Groves High School in 2011. She is double majoring in Sociology and Creative Writing and plans to go to graduate to obtain her masters in Psychology. She is a senior and joined Greek life in Fall 2012. Last year she served as her chapter's Panhellenic Delegate, was a Rho Gamma and a Transitions Leader for Grand Valley's Fall orientation. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, writing, and watching movies.
Vice President of Recruitment: Molly McCain
Bio: Molly is from Auburn Hills, Michigan and graduated from Rochester Adams High School in 2012. She is junior who's perusing a Bachelors of Science degree in CSAT and Special Education with Elementary Certification and dual endorsements in Cognitive Impairment and Emotional Impairment. She joined Greek Life her freshman year, and has loved every moment in it since! She held the Greek Relations chair in sorority. Some fun facts about Molly are that she's obsessed with dogs, dark chocolate, and Detroit sports. She also enjoys traveling and giving back to people in many different parts of the world!
Vice President of Membership Development: Malayna Hasmanis
Bio: Malayna graduated high school from Hart High School; however, she was raised in South Carolina up until her senior year. She is a sophomore at Grand Valley State, where she is studying Special Needs Education with a minor in Sign Language. She was actively involved in her Greek community by serving as one of the Junior Panhellenic representatives for her chapter, Assistant Sisterhood Chair, and is now currently her chapter's Vice President of Cabinet. One fun fact about Malayna is that she plans to help impact the lives of children when she is a high school teacher because she believes teaching is her true calling in life.
Vice President of Rho Gammas: Shannon Blood
Bio: Shannon is currently a senior at Grand Valley State University studying elementary education. She is involved in the Transitions program as a Go Team leader, the president of Order of Omega, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, as well as is a building manager for Kirkhof. Previously, she has served as a Rho Gamma and new member educator within her sorority. Some fun facts about Shannon include traveling to Tanzania this May for a study abroad experience; she loves dogs, and hopes to someday to make a difference in children's lives!
VP of Community Development: Shannon Kaus
Bio: Shannon is from Howell, Michigan and graduated from Howell High School in 2012. She is a junior who majors in Public Relations and Marketing. She joined Greek life her freshman year and couldn’t imagine her life with out the connections and friendships she has made! She holds the Public Relations chair position for her sorority and this is her first Executive Board position. Shannon is also a member of PRSSA. Some fun facts about Shannon are that she enjoys running, coffee, country music, puppies and the show Grey’s Anatomy.
VP of Scholarship and Sustainability: Emma St. Louis
Bio: I'm Emma and I'm from Grosse Pointe, Michigan. I graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 2012 and attended Michigan State University for my freshman year. Going Greek after I transferred to Grand Valley was the best decision I've ever made. I'm majoring in Exercise Science and I hope to go to graduate school for a double Masters in Public Health and Social Work. I have served as assistant to our Sisterhood Development Chair and am enjoying working on Recruitment Committee within my sorority. Some fun facts are that my favorite color is black, I'm a breakfast food enthusiast, and I love yoga.
Vice President of Philanthropy and Service: Katie Gipe
Bio: Katie was born and raised in Clarkston, a town on the east side of Michigan, where she graduated from Clarkston High School in 2013. She is currently a sophomore at Grand Valley and is an Elementary Education major with an English emphasis and an Applied Linguistics minor. She is also continuing to study Spanish and hopes to teach English abroad after college. She joined Greek life as a freshman in the fall of 2013 and has loved the opportunities it has given her to meet so many wonderful women and be able to become a part of something bigger than herself. Besides being on Panhellenic Eboard, she is also Apparel Chair in her own chapter. In her free time, Katie likes to hang out with her family and friends, travel, listen to music, and try new foods!
Secretary: Kara Larson
Bio: Kara is from Jenison, MI and is pursuing her degree in Anthropology with a minor in Archaeology. She plans on going to grad school to obtain her master’s degree in Classical Archaeology. One day, she hopes to be working out in the field as an Archaeologist. Kara rushed in the Fall of 2013 and it was the best decision she ever made. She has held the positions of Social Chair and COB Chair within her sorority, as well as being a Transition Leader in the fall. She is, also, a Junior Varsity dance coach at Jenison High School. Some fun facts about Kara is that her favorite color is pink, she loves Greek Life, is a die-hard Harry Potter fan, and believes that glitter is a necessity.
Treasurer: Jamie Juarez
Bio: Jamie Juarez grew up in Saginaw, MI, home of GVSU's rival Saginaw Valley State University. She is a junior pursuing a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Art & Design with plans to graduate in Winter 2016. She joined Greek life her sophomore year in Fall 2013 and couldn't imagine her college experience without her sisters. Before becoming Panhellenic Treasurer Jamie was previously on her sorority's Public Relations committee and Recruitment committee and currently works as a technician at GVSU's Digital Studio. She also is apart of Grand Valley's Pubic Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). A fun fact about Jamie is she has been in Taekwondo since she was 8 years old and currently holds a 3rd degree black belt!
Vice President of Public Relations: Kristina Graefen
Bio: Kristina is from Mokena, Illinois, which is a small town 30 minutes south of the city of Chicago. She graduated from Providence Catholic High School in 2012. She is a junior at Grand Valley State majoring in Advertising and Public Relations and minoring in Spanish. This is her first Executive Board position and she is involved in the Philanthropy committee for Phi Mu. She is also a member of the GV PRSSA club. She hopes to work for the sports world in public relations. She enjoys shopping, social media, The Chicago Blackhawks and coffee. She also loves to travel and hopes to expand her traveling experience of Spain and France to many other countries in the future!
