Meet Our Graduate and Student Staff
Yasha A. Nath joined the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) team as a graduate assistant in May 2010. She received her undergraduate degree in Accounting at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and is currently pursuing master’s degrees in both Business Administration and Accounting.
Yasha spent the last 10 years working in higher education accounting and has amassed a wealth of knowledge in fund accounting, treasury and investment allocation including long-term debt, bank and cash reconciliation, and budgetary management.
In summer 2010, Yasha worked as an intern with the Advanced Business & Innovation Team at Faurecia Automotive Seating to develop the business plan and model for one of their 2015/16 seating designs. The project entailed a strategic team effort; working through details ranging from product development and patenting, to market research, creating proprietary high margin strategies, and building the roadmap for commercialization.
At OGS, Yasha is responsible for researching trends and compiling comparative benchmarking data on graduate studies education from primary & secondary sources, and peer institutions. She supports the Graduate Council and Curriculum Subcommittee, and the department’s overall objectives. As the vice-president of the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA), she serves as its conduit to OGS.
Justin has been a graduate assistant at GVSU since 2009 and joined the Office of Graduate Studies in May 2010. He earned a BS in Health Professions at GVSU in April 2009 and is currently enrolled in the Master in Health Administration program.
Justin has recently begun an internship with Spectrum Health's Hospice and Palliative Care, working as a researcher for business development. He has future aspirations to be an administrator/manager at a hospital.
For the 2009-10 academic year, Justin worked as a graduate assistant for Dr. Margaret Schulte, DBA, FACHE, in the School of Public, Non-Profit, and Health Administration. During the 2010 winter semester, he did ethnographical research with Dr. Tamara Rosier, Ph.D, for the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center.
In the Office of Graduate Studies, Justin compiles research and data, writes and analyzes surveys, works with multiple programs affiliated to the office, and assists with the overall objectives of the Office of Graduate Studies. He also supports the Graduate Council and Policy Subcommittee, the PACES program, and GEM initiatives.
Mark has recently joined the GVSU Office of Graduate Studies Team this Fall 2010 as a Student Worker. His role as a Database Analyst is analyzing and organizing information for the development of a new database, while providing support to team members.
Mark graduated with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics with Advance Statistics from Missouri Western State University May 2002. Currently, he is an Engineering Graduate Student perusing a Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Operations.
D’Vaun Wells is an undergraduate student at Grand Valley pursuing a degree in Public Administration. He recently changed his emphasis from information systems but still plans to minor in the field as well as obtain a minor in business. He joined the Office of Graduate Studies team in September 2010.
D’Vaun plans to work in the government sector upon graduating. He is also considering pursuing a Masters degree in computer science. D’Vaun is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and his interests include playing golf, cooking, web layout/design, and raising his son.
In recent years, he has worked for Grand Valley housing as a mail clerk where he delivered mail to residents as well as handled issues regarding delivery of student mail. His job in the office included entering data into the office database as well as working with students to resolve mail related problems.
D’Vaun assists in the Office of Graduate Studies with management of the graduate studies database, website, and other office tasks. He also assists with the overall objectives of the Office of Graduate Studies.
