Grad Students' Proposal Selected for Prestigious Project

Jessica Lucas and Amanda Schuiling, students from the Biostatistics graduate program, assisted faculty member Dr. Sango Otieno in creating a proposal that was accepted for AIAG's Survey Analysis Project. Jessica and Amanda are Graduate Assistants for the Statistical Consulting Center and received their GA positions as part of the 2014-15 Special Project GAs awarded by the Office of Graduate Studies. Jessica and Amanda will both earn their Master's degrees at the end of the Winter 2015 semester.

Members of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) https://www.aiag.org/, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 Automotive suppliers, conducted a survey of sub-tier suppliers to access the challenges they face with the new conflict minerals reporting requirements. Their need to have the data professionally analyzed in order to inform AIAG members of potential ways in which they can support their supply base in the reporting process, prompted them to reach out to a variety of statistical consulting services.
