Traffic and Parking Ordinance

This ordinance is enacted by the Board of Trustees for Grand Valley State University pursuant to and in accordance with the authority and responsibility of said Board as provided in the Constitution of the State of Michigan, Act 300 of the Michigan Public Acts of 1949 (Michigan Vehicle Code) as amended, Act 291 of the Public Acts of 1967, as amended, and the Uniform Traffic Codes for Cities, Townships and Villages, as amended.

Definitions:

  1. Campus: Campus shall mean any property owned, leased, rented or maintained by Grand Valley State University, herein referred to as GVSU or University.
     
  2. Campus Safety: Campus Safety shall mean either the Grand Valley Police Department (GVPD) or the Pew Campus Security Department (PCSD). Grand Valley Police Department operates on the Allendale campus. The Pew Campus Security Department is responsible for the Grand Rapids campus and all Regional Centers.

  1. Overnight Parking: Overnight parking on campus is from 3:00 am-7:00 am and is always enforced.  See Section 2.8.3.
     
  2. Color Coded Parking: All parking areas on campus are color coded. The color of a permit authorizes parking in applicable areas and is defined under each permit classification.
