Provide program and clerical support for the Associate Director in Financial Aid/Student Employment.

Primary Duties & Global Responsibilities:


(Must be able to perform these duties; usually consist of more than 5% of your job.)


Responsible for the day to day operation of the Student Employment Office.


Assisting students, employers (both on and off campus) with functions of Job Board.


Responsible for resolution of student and employer problems/questions through phone calls and emails.


Responsible for maintaining and updating files and record keeping systems.


Responsible for maintaining and updating web based job board.


Maintain Student Employment web site, including assisting with design, maintaining informational web pages and posting/updating online documents.


Processing requests for authorization of students to be put on payroll taking into consideration the rules and regulations of the University and the Student Employment Office.


Processing request for student payroll authorization utilizing mainframe application.


Processing requests for graduate assistantship work stipends.


Generates reports, correspondence, memorandums, presentation materials.


Supervise front desk reception area.


Assign tasks to student employees.


Recommends and/or implements changes in office procedures.


Other related duties as assigned.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordination of annual Summer Job Fair which involves; soliciting employers for the event through correspondence and personal contact, tracking registration and fees to this event, coordinate with campus Facilities Services and Food Service. Work in conjunction with Career Services which co-sponsors the event with Student Employment.


Plan and coordinate activities for student Employee Appreciation Days which is a week long event, for all of GVSUs campuses. Recruit volunteers to assist in the events. Coordinate events with campus Facilities Services, Food Service, and Public Safety. A major project for this event is soliciting prizes from employers both on and off campus.


Desired Qualifications:


Some college course work.


Higher Education experience.


Experience in Student Employment.


Working knowledge of federal and state labor laws.


Supervisory experience.

Minimum Required Qualifications:


High school graduate.


Minimum of three years related experience.


Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.


Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.


Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize work and coordinate work activities of others.


Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity.
