We have identified the following ways that you, your class, and/or your department can assist in Intercultural Festival.
Marketing and Attendance:
If you are not able to require this for your class(es) or students that you work with routinely, please consider sharing this web address with your students on the event and what they will learn by attending.
The event is set up to allow participants to come and go as they please, navigate some workshops, participate in interactive activities, witness various demonstrations or interact with a culture different than their own. With the schedule running 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. there will be something for the person that stays 30 minutes or the person that soaks in the entire day.
Please visit and revisit this website for updates!
Workshops or Presentations:
Learning occurs in various forms at Intercultural Festival. We are interested in faculty-led forums or workshops that would provide students/participants with information regarding culture throughout the world.
Do you have a session that you enjoyed from a colleague on campus that would assist in our overall mission of the program? Do you, yourself, have a session that would contribute to the discussion regarding culture?
Interactive Activities:
We are also looking for facilitators who can help us process various activities throughout the event.
Could you/your department/your class provide posters or displays on various cultures?
Do you or someone in your class/department/etc. have a contact for a live musical performance/demonstration/speaker, poet/etc?
Would you be willing to offer a "lab" with regard to dance, language, etc?
Is there a craft that is particular to a culture that you would be willing to provide the participants?
Is there a film that can be shown and processed at the event?
Intercultural Festival 2009 begins in one (1) week. Please e-mail program@gvsu.edu for more information regarding events and planning.
