Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

Date: June 18, 2012

Based on the recommendation from the University Academic Senate, as well as supporting materials from the Academic Policy and Standards Committee, Gayle Davis, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, along with the support of the Senior Management Team, has agreed that classes will be cancelled on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  As part of this decision, the University will remain open for regular business, and additional class time will not be scheduled to compensate for the cancelled classes.  Faculty, staff and students will be encouraged to attend and participate in events scheduled throughout that day to honor Dr. King. The Senior Management Team also agreed that this decision will be revisited in a few years to determine whether the changes prove to be compatible with the best interest of our students’ academic success.
