Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies Minors
Area Studies Minors
A minor in one of the area studies can enrich your academic experience and enhance your career potential. In our increasingly interdependent and interconnected world, professionals with expertise in major areas of the world are in high demand in government, foreign service, and business, and in the humanitarian and development sectors.
In addition to dozens of classes which introduce students to the complexities of the major world regions, the Area Studies Center organizes numerous events which expose the university, as well as the community at large, to the many issues and wonders of our shrinking world.

Environmental Studies Minor
Environmental Studies may be broadly defined as an exploration of the multiple ways by which human society influences, and is influenced by, its natural environment. The Environmental Studies minor is designed to provide a broad interdisciplinary understanding of environmental issues for students in any major. Courses in the program will prepare students to develop effective, practical ways to address sustainability and environmental concerns. The program draws ideas and information from a wide array of fields such as anthropology, public policy, political science, economics, geography, geology, history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, biology, engineering, health science, and chemistry.
