Tips:
- Save any information that contains sensitive materials such as Student Numbers, Grades, and Evaluations on your N: drive.
- Your login and password are required to access that data.
- In the unlikely event that your machine is stolen, this information will not be on your machine.
- Do not give your passwords to anyone.
- Occasionally you need to give your password out such as when I.T. is doing repair on your machine. It is recommended that you change your password once that work has been completed.
- How to change your password
- Create a naming convention that will assist you in remembering your passwords. - Example: bui72ck, jet88ta where the date holds meaning for you. - Do not save your passwords on sticky notes.
- Use the screen saver password feature.
1) Right click on your desktop
2) Choose Properties
3) Screen Saver
4) Check On resume, password protect. Click OK
1) Choose System Preferences
2) Choose Security (Not Screen Saver)
3) Check Use password to wake computer from sleep or screen saver 4) Close System Preferences.
- If students must use your computer, Log Off (Click Start, log off) and then log back in checking the Workstation Only option to prevent access to network resources.
- Contact CTS-Helpdesk when a computer is to be passed to a new user. IT will clean the computer, removing previous data and place a clean image on the machine.
