PARKING

PLEASE NOTE: Due to construction near the Johnson Center, all guests should park in the WATSON LOT  (#20 on Pew Camus map). Be sure to park outside the resident barricades. The FRONT LOT is not available for use.

Parking permits are required to park in all GVSU parking lots. Vehicles without a permit will be ticketed and/or towed. 
  • Workshops and Events: Permits will be emailed to each participant 24 hours in advance (when participant has registered through eventbrite.com).
  • Meetings held at the Johnson Center: Permits will be emailed to attendees by GVSU Conference Services or your Johnson Center contact person.
Directions are printed on the permits for placement and expiration date(s).

Johnson Center event parking is strictly prohibited in gated lot off Butterworth Street.  This parking lot is reserved for condominium residents and short term visitors for GVSU administration offices only. GVSU will not be responsible for any vehicle towed from this lot.

From Chicago

  • I-94 East to I-196/US-31 (Exit 34) at Benton Harbor
  • Take I-196 toward Grand Rapids to US-131 South
  • I-96 East to US-131 South
  • US-131 South to Wealthy St.
  • Turn right onto Wealthy St. off the exit
  • Third light turn right onto Front Ave. SW
  • The Johnson Center for Philanthropy/GVSU is on the left (201 Front Ave. SW) 

From East - Detroit/Lansing

(Approximately 150 miles from Detroit and 60 miles from Lansing)

  • I-96 West to I-196 West (Gerald R. Ford Freeway) to the Ottawa St. exit 77        
  • Follow Ottawa Street south to Pearl St.
  • Turn right at Pearl St. and follow this one block beyond the US-131 overpass to Winter and turn left
  • Cross Fulton and take the left curve which is Watson
  • Follow to stop sign which is Front Ave. ~ turn right
  • The Johnson Center for Philanthropy/GVSU is on the left (201 Front Ave. SW) 

From West - Holland

(Approximately 30 miles from Holland)

BIK Building:

  • I-196 East (Gerald R. Ford Freeway) to US-131 South
  • US-131 South to Wealthy St. Exit
  • Turn right on to Wealthy St. off the exit
  • Third light turn right onto Front Ave. SW
  • The Johnson Center for Philanthropy/GVSU is on the left (201 Front Ave. SW) 

From South - Kalamazoo

(Approximately 50 miles from Kalamazoo)

BIK Building:  

  • US-131 North to Wealthy St. (Left exit)
  • Turn left on to Wealthy St. off the exit
  • Third light turn right onto Front Ave. SW
  • The Johnson Center for Philanthropy/GVSU is on the left (201 Front Ave. SW) 

From West - Muskegon

(Approximately 45 miles from Muskegon)

BIK Building:

  • I-96 East to US-131 South
  • US-131 South to Wealthy St.
  • Turn right on to Wealthy St. off the exit
  • Third light turn right onto Front Ave. SW

From Northern Michigan
