Bio

Alejandra GarciaDiaz Villamil is a Research Manager in the Community Research Institute at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich. She is responsible for managing, analyzing, designing and collecting community data for evaluations.

 
Garcia Diaz Villamil previously worked in research, evaluation, and strategic planning for poverty reduction and empowerment programs in Latin America, Africa, and the United States. Alejandra designed and conducted effective client assessments, formative and impact evaluations for non-profit organizations, research centers, and micro finance institutions. She is both bilingual and bicultural by both birth and experience.
 
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science, Master's of liberal arts and professional studies in gender and women studies and Master's of public administration in non profit management from Armstrong Atlantic State University and University of Oregon.
 
Garcia Diaz Villamil speaks, writes and teaches on women’s empowerment, social performance management, poverty reduction strategies, micro finance and micro development, mix research methods, and Latina/Latino studies. She is also a member of American Evaluation Association and Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA).
