Bio
Dr. Jodi Petersen is the Senior Researcher in the Community Research Institute at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich. She is responsible for conducting community based research and evaluation.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in crime and justice from the University of Michigan and a Master’s and Doctorate in ecological community psychology from Michigan State University.
Petersen is a member of the Society for Community Research and Action, the American Psychological Association, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Society of Criminology, and the Society for Research on Child Development.
Petersen has previously taught in psychology and social action and writes about systems change in the juvenile justice system. Her past work has focused specifically on community level predictors of risk and protective factors for juvenile offenders. She has presented internationally at conferences on psychology, social justice, and criminology.
