What the Latin American Studies Minor has done for me!

My minor in Latin American Studies has shaped the course of my life. My classes encouraged me to think critically and analyze problems from a global perspective without losing focus of their impact on individuals’ experiences. During my time at GVSU, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Argentina and travel throughout South America. This experience left me with a profound respect and love for the region and its people. After completing my degree at GVSU, I served in the Peace Corps in Panama for three years. My LAS minor provided me with context and a deep understanding of Latin America that contributed to my success as a volunteer. I recently completed a Master’s degree in LAS from Indiana University. I believe my LAS minor laid the foundation for my future academic achievements and my career path.
