The event,  slated for Saturday, Oct. 6th, is showcases the solar technologies your neighbors are using to 1) drastically reduce monthly energy bills, 2) reduce harmful carbon emissions, and 3) enjoy rich tax credits and cash incentives as they improve their property values.

“In the wake of one of the largest man-made environmental disasters in U.S. history, learning about clean, job-creating energy options that provide tax breaks, lower energy bills and cleaner communities for all of us is something Muskegon residents can do to address America’s addiction to fossil fuels,” said Kim Walton MAREC/GVSU Program Director.  “The ASES National Solar Tour shows families and businesses real-life examples of how their neighbors are harnessing free energy from the sun to generate electricity, warm and cool their homes, heat water and slash monthly utility bills,” she said.

The self-guided tours last year attracted more than 150,000 people in 49 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. Tours afford participants the direct perspectives of homeowners and installers about the costs, processes and economic and environmental benefits of going solar. The tours also give West Michiganders   a glimpse at how a variety of solar systems look in and around structures with different architectural styles.

The National Solar Tour is a collaboration of unprecedented proportion to help Americans address the growing need for electricity and clean transportation. It demonstrates an array of clean, effective, practical and economical solutions available right here, right now.”

The Muskegon Solar Tour will be a self-guided tour of many homes in the greater Muskegon area.

Come to MAREC at 200 Viridian Drive, Muskegon, MI on Saturday October 6th, between 10:00 am & 2:00 pm for refreshments and to pick up the tour map and information packet. This Tour is free and open to the public. Check the event posting for more info.
