MIPERC Health Expo 2021

Health Expo Theme: Social Determinants of Health
Target Population: College Students
Purpose: To create an interprofessional service-learning experience for students in health-related academic programs
Faculty/Staff/Community Member Mentor Registration
Objectives:
- Provide an opportunity for health professional students from across educational institutions to work in interprofessional teams to produce specific educational information to be publicly shared with health expo participants
- Connect health expo participants with existing health-related resources in the community
- Arrange for the opportunity for health expo participants to learn about social determinants of health, wellness and the roles specific health professions provide in healthcare
Design:
This year's Health Expo theme is Social Determinants of Health with the target audience being area college students.
You will be assigned to an interprofessional (IPE) team of up to four students who have expressed similar interests in Social Determinants of Health topics.
REGISTER HERE! (Registration Closes on January 22nd, 5pm)
Notification of team assignments will be sent out by the end of January 2021.
Each student team will have approximately 8 weeks to create a Health Expo Poster Presentation that provides information based on the team's chosen Social Determinants of Health topic.
The five Social Determinants of Health topics that your group may choose from are:
1. Education Access and Quality
2. Health Care and Quality
3. Neighborhood and Built Environment
4. Social and Community Context
5. Economic Stability
Teams will submit their poster by March 26th at 5:00 p.m. in Blackboard, and then present their poster LIVE via Zoom on March 31st from 5 - 7:00 p.m.
This event will count for 10 hours towards the Service Learning requirement of the IPE Student Certificate.
