Beth Gibbs

Beth Gibbs, Assistant Professor of Music Education, joined the faculty at Grand Valley State University in Fall 2009. She received her Ph.D. in music education at The Pennsylvania State University with a cognate in educational psychology. She obtained her M.M.E at the Hartt School of Music Dance and Theater, University of Hartford, and her B.S. in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Gibbs teaches courses in elementary music methods and music for the classroom teacher. Prior to her appointment at GVSU, she has held teaching positions at The Pennsylvania State University and the State College Friends School in State College, PA, as well as the Red Lion Area Junior High School in Red Lion, PA. Her professional interests include research into effective music teaching practices as well as music teaching and learning interactions. Dr. Gibbs has presented her research at state, regional, and national music education conferences. Her professional memberships include the Music Educators National Conference and the Society for Research in Music Education.
