Kimberly Veenstra

Kimberly Veenstra holds a Ph.D. in music theory from the Ohio State University, where she served as a graduate teaching associate for three years. In her last two years at OSU, she was granted the Award for Outstanding Teaching Associates in the area of music theory. Dr. Veenstra also held a graduate teaching assistantship at Michigan State University, where she earned a Master of Music degree in music theory. Dr. Veenstra pursued her undergraduate studies at Calvin College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music theory and composition.
This is Dr. Veenstra’s first year of teaching at Grand Valley State University. Prior to teaching at GVSU, she was an adjunct instructor of music theory at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In addition to teaching in the college classroom, she teaches private piano lessons in her home.
Dr. Veenstra resides in Zeeland, Michigan, with her husband and two beautiful daughters.
