Lee Copenhaver

Lee CopenhaverLee Copenhaver, is coordinator of music theory and conductor of the GVSU Cello Ensemble. He received a Ph.D. in music theory and master's degrees from Ithaca College and the University of Iowa, and a B.S. from Mansfield University. In addition to first-year music theory and aural perception, Dr. Copenhaver teaches counterpoint, orchestration, and the Department of Music capstone course. For 13 years he was conductor of the GVSU orchestras and he conducted the West Shore Youth Symphony for five years. He is principal cellist with the West Shore Symphony and writes and arranges music (Pas Op! Publications) for strings, wind ensemble, and brasses.
