8:00 to 8:45  Registration [LOUIS ARMSTRONG THEATER LOBBY]

9:00 to 10:30

  • Sectional Rehearsals 
  • First violins with Gregory Maytan [ON STAGE]
  • Second violins with Eric Tanner [ROOM 1515]
  • Violas with Paul Swantek [ROOM 1200]
  • Cellos with Pablo Mahave-Veglia [ROOM 1410]
  • Basses with Michael Hovnanian [LAT LOBBY] 

10:45 to 12:00 [ON STAGE]

  • Massed String Orchestra Rehearsal (Dvorak Serenade, mvts 1 & 5)

12:00 to 1:00

  • Lunch provided for all students  [ROOM 1515]
  • Informal lunch with directors TBA

1:00 to 2:30

  • Master Classes [with selection for Best of the Day soloists]
  • Violins with Gregory Maytan [ON STAGE
  • Violas with Paul Swantek [ROOM 1200]
  • Cellos with Pablo Mahave-Veglia [ROOM 1410]
  • Basses with Michael Hovnanian [Sherman Van Solkema Recital Hall]

2:30 to 3:00 break for refreshments

 

3:00 to 3:30 [ON STAGE] GVSU Faculty String Trio

 

3:45 to 5:30 [ON STAGE]

  • Massed String Orchestra Rehearsal

[4:00 to 6:00 Individual rehearsal time with staff accompanist for Best of the Day soloists in Sherman Van Solkema Recital Hall]

 

5:30 to 7:00 Monitored storage for instruments [backstage]

 

5:30 to 7:00 [FREE TIME]

  • Dinner on your own and change into concert dress

7:00 CONCERT storage for cases [backstage]

[ALL students must be in audience for first half of concert]

  • Performance by Best of the Day student soloists 
  • GVSU Chamber Orchestra - (Purcell The Fairy Queen)
  • Massed String Leadership Day Orchestra - (Dvorak Serenade, mvts 1 & 5)
