STAIR: Studies in Trans-Atlantic International Relations
Exchange Student Information
INTRODUCTION STAIR is a cooperative academic program between Krakow University of Economics (KUE), Funding for this program is provided by the Atlantis Program through the U.S. Department of Education and the European Commission. For additional information on funding for participation in this program, please contact your campus representative.
APPLICATION PROCESS Applications for student participation will be collected and reviewed by the home university. A review committee consisting of the STAIR Academic Board and Administrative Board will evaluate all completed applications and make acceptance decisions. Applicants should check with their home university for information on the application deadlines for this program. While the home university will make the initial decision on acceptance, applications will be subject to final approval from the host university. Decisions on acceptance will be based on applicants meeting the eligibility criteria, the strength of the application, and the student’s academic preparation. Alternate candidates may be selected in the event that an accepted candidate is unable to participate. Once students are accepted for participation, the designated administrator at the home university will forward applications materials to the host university for final approval. Applications will be sent to the host university at least 3 months prior to the start of the semester. Fall semester applications are due to the host university by: October 1st Winter (spring) applications are due to the host university by: May 1st The host university will make a final decision on acceptance and will send all acceptance and pre-departure documents to the home university for distribution to program participants. CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION Students will be required to sign a contract agreeing to the terms and conditions of participation in this program. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA n All participants must have completed at least 1 year at the home institution prior to participation in this program, n Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (or the equivalent of a 3.0 GPA), n Applicants must have a declared major or minor in International Relations, n Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria for study abroad at the home university, n Grand Valley State University students must have completed at least 1 semester of Polish prior to participation. n University of Debrecen and Krakow University of Economics participants must show evidence of English proficiency. Please provide evidence of one of the following tests: TOEFL test 550 (paper), 213 (computer), 79 online version IELTS test score of 6.5 for undergraduate application APIEL test score of 3 for undergraduate application
