Reach Higher Together is the next phase of GVSU’s strategic plan. The resulting plan will be a continuation, reshaping, and amplification of Reach Higher 2025, and will guide the university’s direction for the next several years.
Development launched in winter 2025 through a collaborative, community-driven process. All Lakers—faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and community members—were invited to provide honest feedback through various in-person and online opportunities. That feedback currently informs decision-making.
Strategic planning is an ongoing process to ensure that GVSU continues to evolve and meet the changing needs of both the university and surrounding communities. GVSU’s current strategic plan, Reach Higher, concludes in 2025.
The Reach Higher Collaborative Leadership Network is the campus group charged with gathering insights and feedback from the larger GVSU community to inform the strategic plan. The group includes faculty and staff from all areas of the university, students, and members of the senior leadership team.
Data was compiled and analyzed with AI and cross-referenced and validated by faculty qualitative researchers over summer of 2025. The resulting insights are being used to drive strategic planning at all levels. All voices have been taken into account, ensuring that Reach Higher Together reflects the diverse perspectives of the GVSU community.
Reach Higher Together is expected to be finalized and approved in early 2026.

The process of developing Reach Higher Together has been wholly collaborative. Throughout Winter 2025, the entire GVSU community was invited to provide feedback about the University’s challenges, opportunities, strengths, and commitments. More than 7,500 community members provided insights that will inform the resulting strategic plan, to launch in 2026.
