 Enhance the GVSU experience through co-curricular learning, development, and recreational opportunities that promote health and well-being.
 Campus Recreation will be recognized nationally as a leader on campus for making an integral contribution to student success. We will provide a culture that creates learning opportunities and fosters student development. By providing comprehensive recreational services and employment experiences, the department will support the mission of Grand Valley State University.  Collaboration We believe in building positive and mutual relationships with the university and surrounding community, including campus organizations, and departments.
Diversity & Inclusion We believe in being supportive and committed to a culture of inclusion, in which we provide recreational programs and services that are available to a diverse community. We strive to share a wide array of ideas, opportunities, and experiences.
Healthy Lifestyle We believe that students and the university community can maximize their experiences by being actively involved and educated to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Service We believe in offering and assessing quality fitness, intramural, and wellness programs and services that make a positive impact on the University and surrounding community.

Sustainability We believe in promoting awareness and being responsible through sustainable efforts in our environment, ourselves, and our resources. GOALS Goal 1 - Department Climate Create a department climate of teamwork and service to the GVSU community that promotes learning, health, personal well-being, and recreational opportunities.
Goal 2 - Central Office Space Create a Campus Recreation administrative office space for all department leadership staff.
Goal 3 - Campus Identity Campus Recreation has a clear and concise message that attracts the GVSU community to participate in its programs and services.
Goal 4 - Collaboration Continue a culture of collaboration with campus partners and professional colleagues that enhances Campus Recreation programs and services.
Goal 5 - Program Development Continue to provide quality programs and services that enhance participant’s learning, development, health and well-being.
Goal 6 - Academic Success Continue Campus Recreation student employment experiences that enhance student learning and professional development.
Goal 7 - Human Resources Continue to recruit, select, and retain quality staff to support Campus Recreation mission, vision, and values.
Goal 8 - Professional Staff Development Continue to support and enhance Campus Recreation professional staff development.
Goal 9 – Diversity Provide programs and services that create an inclusive environment for all participants and staff.
Goal 10 – Sustainability Practice sustainability in the administration of programming and facility planning. |
