Nominate a Teacher for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching
Do you know an excellent 7-12 math and/or science teacher that deserves to be awarded for all their hard work? The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching is looking for nominations for this year’s competition.
The nomination process is quick and user friendly. Simply go online to www.paemst.org and nominate a teacher. Knowledge of the teacher’s email address and the school where they work is necessary to complete the nomination form. Anyone can nominate a teacher; a teacher can even nominate him/herself. Nominations for this year’s competition are due April 1, 2013.
After being nominated, a teacher must complete an application that is due May 1st, 2013. The application includes three letters of recommendation, a narrative and a video of a lesson. More details on the application and application process are available online at www.paemst.org.
Each year, the National Science Foundation and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy are able to award at most 108 teachers with this honor. Winners will receive $10,000, a signed letter from the President of the United States, and a trip for two to Washington D.C. to attend events in their honor.
