April is Citizen Science Month!

Citizen Science is open to ALL and involves curious and concerned people whose individual acts contribute to collective impact that’s accelerating scientific research, discoveries, and local actions that improve the world. From sharing photos of nature to help communities, planners, and scientists document biodiversity, to browsing images on your computer to help speed up research about Alzheimer's disease, to using your phone to help track microplastic and air quality, each of these Acts of Science is important.

In just a few years, Global Citizen Science Month (April) has grown from a single day of events to a coordinated effort supported by SciStarter, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) through the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM), Arizona State University, the Association for Advancing Participatory Sciences, Science Friday, National Geographic, and many other collaborators from around the world.

SciStarter.org is the place to find, join, and contribute to science by providing people access to more than 2,000 searchable formal and informal citizen science research projects, events, and tools. The SciStarter website also offers a dashboard or coordinated place for members to track and earn credit for contributions across citizen science projects and platforms. More than 150,000 people are registered members of the SciStarter community. The SciStarter team includes educators, faculty, librarians, programmers, instructional designers, communicators, and scientists, all focused on improving the citizen science experience for everyone.
