Professor John Stipe teaches advertising and research (for advertising and public relations) courses. Professionally, he spent 32 years with Booth Newspapers (a Michigan chain of eight major daily newspapers), serving in several advertising, research, marketing, sales and management positions. His last seven years with the company were spent as advertising manager. Professor Stipe has been nationally recognized for his contributions to newspaper co-operative advertising. His developmental advertising design work with manufacturers, distributors and retailers earned him the industry’s highest honor (the John Maione Award). Professor Stipe has been active in several professional organizations including, the Newspaper Association of America, Adcraft Club of Detroit and the Flint Area Advertising Federation. He has also served as a volunteer marketing consultant to Hospice of Michigan. He is dedicated to helping students develop life-long learning skills.
