Welcome to the Classics Society Homepage!
The Classics Society at GVSU is a student organization for those interested in the history, mythology, culture, literature, philosophy, art, architecture and archaeology of the various cultures that rose up around the Mediterranean long ago. The Classics Society works together with GVSU's Classics Department to provide fun activities throughout the year to give you a break from the rigors of university life. The Classics Department offers courses in Greek and Roman history, art, archaeology and language, as well as Ancient Hebrew and, in conjunction with the History Department, courses in Ancient Near Eastern history.
As a member of the Classics Society, you will have the opportunity to help plan and put on Classics Society events. We will be having weekly meetings in which we all hope to have fun, hang out, and plan any events. We will be doing quick readings on mythology as well as a study of the Roman Emperors. There will be a trip planned to the museum of Classical Archaeology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor! Classics Society will be a great place to get away from all of the stresses of college life! For more information look up the group GVSU Classics Society and join the group. If there are any questions please email president Steve Krepp at krepps@mail.gvsu.edu
