Kids in Motion (KIM) was founded in 2010 and is dedicated to providing underprivileged children in our community with scholarships to participate in sports. KIM members plan and host large campus events each semester, as well as smaller fundraisers. Past events have included a 3v3 soccer tournament, Grand Valley Turkey Trot 5K run, and a swing dance night. Through a recent partnership with the YMCA, our scholarships will be awarded to children enrolled in the IMPACT program to participate in YMCA sports. IMPACT is an after-school program held at the Visser YMCA for disadvantaged, at-risk Grandville Middle School students. KIM members will have the oppertunity to interact with scholarship recipients by coaching weekly sports clinics at IMPACT, planning and accompanying on field trips, and volunteering during IMPACT. Kids Sports Leagues (KSL) is a brand-new sister organization to KIM that coaches youth sports camps and leagues. While KIM scholarship participants will be able to participate for free, fees collected from other participants will go towards the KIM scholarship fund. Both Kids in Motion and Kids Sports Leagues are great ways to get involved on campus and give back to our community. While many of our members come from sports backgrounds, this is not a requirement. Kids in Motion members must simply have an interest in helping children reach their potential while finding enjoyment through sports.
