The Grand Valley Wrestling Team has been a staple for success. The team participates in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) and has won 5 of eight national championships since joining (including the past 3 in a row). The wrestling team is the only team to win three consecutive national championships in GVSU athletics history. The wrestling program also can lay claim to the only NCAA DI All-Americans in GVSU Athletics History.
The wrestling program was once a varsity program from the 1970's until its last season in 1991-1992. The program was restarted in 2000-2001 when it entered into the NCWA as a club team. The wrestling team wrestles not only other club teams, but varsity programs as well. Each year the team travels to DI wrestling opens such as Eastern Michigan University Open and Michigan State Open.
