Program Details: ESSCA Paris

ESSCA Paris

Is this program for me?

For more than 20 years, GVSU and Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers (ESSCA) have partnered together to offer full immersion exchange opportunities to students in business and international relations. ESSCA is a small, private, not-for-profit, business school located in France with approximately 3,000 students. Founded in 1909, ESSCA’s mission is to educate students to work in an international environment, and offers campuses in Angers, Paris, Budapest, and Shanghai. ESSCA- Paris offers courses in the fall and spring (GV's winter) semesters, as well as a summer program. Students can take courses in English or in French. Subjects may include: marketing, management, international business and trade, economics, French, and finance. Students will take classes with both French and international degree-seeking students, as well as other exchange students from around the world.

Course options do vary based on the semester of participation. Students can find details on course options available on the ESSCA Exchange Student Website.

The Paris semester exchange program is best suited for highly independent students who are seeking a full immersion experience. Currently, students are required to find their own accommodations, and will be required to navigate many administrative necessities with some limited on-site support. The ESSCA summer program offers a much greater level of support to exchange students. For students seeking a more structured experience, the summer option may be of interest. The summer program offers features that are different from the semester exchanges. Students interested in the summer option should scroll down the page to view the section on Summer Program Information.

Visa Information

Students studying in France for more than 90 days are required to obtain a student visa. The process for securing a student visa is lengthy and requires students to first obtain approval through an online system called PASTEL that is coordinated through CampusFrance. Students should begin the PASTEL application a minimum of 8 weeks prior to departure, however earlier application is recommended. Students must have acceptance from the host university before finalizing their PASTEL application. Students will be required to travel to the French Consulate in Chicago (or the Consulate with jurisdiction over your state of permanent residence) to apply for the visa. Details on the application requirements can be found at: www.consulfrance-chicago.org. Students can also reference our student visa guide for more detailed information.
