Students often pay for study abroad through a combination of financial aid, personal funds, scholarships, grants, and alternative loans. The total amount listed as the Total Program Cost is the maximum amount of aid you can receive from GVSU. This estimated cost of attendance does not reflect the amount of aid you will qualify for, simply the cap on how much could be award to you.

ESSCA Program Fee

Paid to GVSU. Fee covers the cost of housing, some meals, site visit to Brussels and Paris & entrance fees. Subject to change due to exchange fluctuations and changes due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19.

IS 380 Course Fee

Paid to GVSU. The course fee for IS 380 is $28 per credit hour. Participants on this program will register for 6 credits of IS 380.

Chubb Health Insurance

$58

The Chubb health insurance plan is mandatory for all study abroad students. The cost is $1.91 per day. This estimate reflects 30 days, but the actual number of days of the program may differ.

Meals

On-site personal expenses. Costs for meals will largely depend on a person's spending habits. Students who prepare meals at home rather than eating out regularly may dramatically reduce the cost for meals. This estimate is based on approx. 112 Euro per week.

Personal Expenses

On-site personal expenses associated with local transportation not provided by the program, laundry and other basic necessities. Based on $100-$150 USD per week.

$10,894 (estimate for out-of-state students who do not receive a tuition differential scholarship)

Out-of-state students who receive a GVSU tuition differential scholarship will be able to use that scholarship towards the cost of this program. Exception: International students will not have access to the tuition differential scholarship for use towards the cost of study abroad, however, they may still be eligible for the Study Abroad Grant.

Estimated costs are based on a rate of exchange of 1 Euro = 1.10 USD. Exchange rates fluctuate and may impact the estimates listed above. The rate listed here is the rate as of June 2023.
