Barbara H. Padnos Scholarship*
Application Deadline: February 15
Amount: $5,000 - $15,000 (6 - 8 awards per year)

The Barbara H. Padnos International Scholars program provides scholarships for year long study abroad programs. The average scholarship ranges from $5,000-$15,000. Students are expected to engage in serious study for an extended period of time (minimum 9 months) in an approved study abroad program in one location. Preference for the largest award will be given to qualified applicants who plan to be abroad longer than 10 months.

 

Mark A. Murray Scholarship*

Amount: $1,500 - $5,000 (4 - 8 awards per year)

Established in 2006, The Mark A. & Elizabeth C. Murray Scholarship for Study Abroad is intended to support students who wish to study outside of the United States but without this fund would otherwise not be able to afford to do so. Participant must be in an approved for-credit Study Abroad program that involves overseas study or interning for no fewer than 8 weeks. 


Padnos International Center Photography Scholarship
Application Deadline: February 15
Amount: $1,000 (2 awards per year)

Two awards of $1,000 will be granted to students with a passion for photography or video. This opportunity is open to students in any major. No minimum duration of program required. Applications will be accepted until February 15 each year for programs that begin within the subsequent 12 months. Students will be expected to submit images and film footage to PIC upon their return. A committee, comprised of Padnos International Center staff and School of Communications faculty will select the awardees each year based on their application, portfolio, and study abroad destination. 

 

International Internship Scholarship
Spring/Summer/Fall Application Deadline: February 15
Winter Application Deadline: September 1
Amount: $1,000 - $2,000 (5-10 awards per year)

Established in 2020, The International Internship Scholarship is intended to support students who are interning abroad on a full-time basis for at least 8 weeks. Priority is given to students who demonstrate financial need and who do not have significant academic experience studying or interning abroad. 


The William & Amy Crawley Japanese Studies Scholarship
Application Deadline: March 1
Amount: $1,000 (1 award per year)

Award amount may vary each year, depending on the number & quality of applications. Award will be $1,000 per student, and based on specific financial need as determined by Financial Aid and overall cost of program. Scholarships are not renewable. Applications will be accepted until a February/March deadline each year for programs that begin within the subsequent 12 months. A Committee made up of representatives from the staff of the Padnos International Center, Financial Aid, and a faculty member from Japanese Studies will select the awardees each year, and will base their final decision on interviews with finalists. 


Additional PIC Scholarships

PLEASE NOTE: No application is required for the following scholarships. Students who apply to their program by the priority application deadline will be automatically considered.   

Faculty-Led Program Grant
Application Deadline: Students who apply to their spring/summer program by the priority deadline are automatically considered. Must have a FAFSA on file. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for this grant.
Amount: Up to $1,500


International Exchange Grant*
Application Deadline: Students who apply to their partnership program by the priority deadline are automatically considered. Must have a FAFSA on file.
Amount: $500 - $2,000 For more information about the Partnership grants available, click here.

 

*Note: The Padnos Scholarship, Murray Scholarship, and Partnership Grants are mutually exclusive.  A student may apply for more than one of these scholarships/grants, but they can ultimately receive only one of the scholarships/grants.
