The Will Steger Foundation is proud to launch EXPEDITION COPENHAGEN, a Midwest youth delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Convention in Copenhagen this December. The Conference is the last time the parties of the United Nations Framework Convention will meet before the expiration of the Kyoto Protocol in 2012. Essential to securing our environmental future and preventing catastrophic climate change, the goal of the conference is to establish a global climate agreement from 2012 forward. The Will Steger Foundation will build on significant regional collaboration to recruit and support ten young delegates for EXPEDITION COPENHAGEN. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for solving the climate crisis, have strong leadership skills, and represent an authentically diverse cross-section of the Midwest. Join the Midwest youth delegation to Copenhagen!

The Will Steger Foundation is proud to launch EXPEDITION COPENHAGEN. Join polar explorer Will Steger, and delegates from across the Midwest for a year of action in support of the international climate negotiations being held in Copenhagen Denmark this December.

EXPEDITION COPENHAGEN includes:

  • A Midwest youth delegation to the international climate negotiations in Copenhagen, December 5-19, 2009
  • Summer/fall training for youth delegates
  • A regional youth campaign in support of strong federal climate policy and US participation the international climate negotiations, May-December, 2009
  • A dynamic curriculum for grades 9-12 on the basic of climate change policy, negotiations, and international climate solutions, to be unveiled in August 2009. Students can follow delegates online through multi-media updates from Copenhagen.
Delegates must be
  • Between the ages of 18-26 as of April 2009
  • Currently living in SD, ND, MN, IA, WI, MI, IL
  • Willing to commit to a year of participation (an average of 5 hours/week)
  • Passionate about climate change solutions
